"Money is not a motivating factor. Money doesn't thrill me or make me play better because there are benefits to being wealthy. I'm just happy with a ball at my feet. My motivation comes from playing the game I love. If I wasn't paid to be a professional footballer, I would willingly play for nothing."

                                            Lionel Messi

Code of Conduct for Players

                                     BALLYMACKEY FOOTBALL CLUB

                                                          Code of Conduct for Players

    1. The Club will not tolerate the verbal or physical abuse of any coach who is giving their time freely for your enjoyment and who is acting in good faith in their choices and decisions on and off the field of play. Any player who is found guilty of such actions by the Club Disciplinary Committee will face sanctions up to or including expulsion from the Club.

    2. Play for enjoyment, not just to please your parents/guardians or coach.

    3. Play by the laws of the game.

    4. Always accept the referee’s decision.

    5. Play with control. Do not lose your temper

    6. Play for yourself and your team – your team’s performance will benefit and so will your own.

    7. Respect your opponent. Treat all players as you would like to be treated. Do not bully or take advantage of any player.

    8. Co-operate with your coaches, your team-mates and opponents.

    9. Remember that the goals of the game are to have fun, improve your skills and feel good too.

    10. At the final whistle thank your opponents and the referee.

    11. Always remember that you owe a duty of care to your opponents. Tackle hard but fairly – never do anything to intentionally hurt your opponent.

    12. Win with humility – lose with dignity.

    13. Have respect for club property.

    14. Have respect for your coach/manager by informing him/her at all times of your availability/unavailability for matches/training. Remember training is an important part of preparation.

    15. Be a good timekeeper.

    16. PLAYERS MUST ENSURE THEIR REGISTRATION FEES ARE FULLY PAID BY THE DUE DATE EACH YEAR. Players who are not registered are not insured AND THEREFORE WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO PLAY OR TRAIN WITH ANY CLUB TEAM BY ORDER OF THE CLUB COMMITTEE.

    17. Players must play for their own age group at all times on match day, otherwise they cannot be considered for selection on another older age group for that day.

    18. Any player fined within the rules of the North Tipperary & District League is responsible for the full payment of that fine personally and the player shall not be eligible to play for the Club until such time as that fine is fully paid.

    19. All players are required by the Club to wear the full club kit on match day.
